Alaska Mariculture Insights

The seaweed and oyster industries are expanding across various regions globally, with Alaska emerging as a critical area for restorative aquaculture development. In 2024, Hatch Blue Consulting and The Fish Site, in partnership with Southeast Conference Alaska (SEC), launched the publicly accessible website of Aalaska Mariculture Insights. This project aims to benefit all stakeholders across the Alaskan mariculture value chain. With a focus on technological development, sustainability, local & Indigenous communities, job creation, and economic growth, our project inspires to:

• Equip local and national stakeholders with the knowledge and understanding of the Alaskan industry's potential to drive support, investments, and engagement with local entities.
• Provide valuable insights for public and private-sector investors seeking opportunities in restorative aquaculture and Alaska's blue economy.

The platform presents the findings from our field study in Alaska and analyses all gathered data. The platform provides comprehensive insights into production, identifies technical challenges, and highlights opportunities for technological advancements. It aims to be a valuable resource for stakeholders throughout the mariculture industry, offering a rich repository of first-hand information.
