Jules Elbers
Jules Elbers is a Junior Aquaculture Analyst at Hatch Blue, specializing in early-stage investments in the aquaculture industry.
With a strong technical background in Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), fish nutrition, and hatchery management, he brings a unique combination of scientific expertise and hands-on operational experience to evaluating innovative startups in sustainable seafood production. Jules holds a Master’s degree in Aquaculture and Marine Resource Management from Wageningen University & Research, where his thesis focused on the effect of starch levels and exogenous amylase supplementation on the fecal characteristics of rainbow trout. His research provided valuable insights into nutrient utilization and waste management in aquaculture systems.Throughout his career, he has worked in various roles across the sector. As a Junior Aquaculture Engineer at Orange Aqua, he designed and installed RAS systems, traveling extensively primarily to Georgia to implement hygiene protocols and train hatchery staff on contamination prevention. His experience as a Biologist at Anna Dutch Caviar deepened his expertise in fish health and production, while his role as a Hatchery Technician at Fish2Be allowed him to specialize in early-stage fish rearing. He also worked at The Kingfish Company, gaining hands-on experience in land-based aquaculture production. With his strong foundation in technical aquaculture, biosecurity, and sustainable production, Jules is committed to bridging the gap between scientific research and commercial innovation, supporting game-changing technologies in the aquaculture industry.
