Blue Catalyst Unveils Inaugural Cohort to Advance Blue Carbon Solutions in Southeast Asia

Today, the Blue Catalyst Challenge takes a major step forward in catalysing technological solutions for high-quality blue carbon ecosystems. Hatch Blue and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Singapore, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), are proud to introduce the 10 early-stage ventures selected for the inaugural cohort.
Hailing from seven countries, these startups provide critical tools ranging from geospatial mapping and biodiversity monitoring to digital platforms and restoration optimization.
Meet the 10 Participants:
- Arkadiah Technology (Singapore) – Builds high-resolution digital twins of forests, peatlands, and mangroves using LiDAR and aerial data, integrated with satellite insights.
- Atdepth (USA) - building Ocean Digital Twins to measure carbon flux in blue carbon ecosystems.
- Blue Mangrove Solutions (Australia) – Providers of integrated mangrove restoration solutions, utilizing containerised tidal-mimicking systems to optimize seedling survival and project viability.
- Fairatmos (Indonesia) – Tech-enabled platform that de-risks blue carbon project development across ASEAN.
- Inverto Earth (Switzerland) – Geospatial AI and robotics platform with biodegradable Seed Darts for high-yield, scalable mangrove restoration and cost-efficient digital MRV.
- Kanop (France) – AI and satellite imagery that automates the carbon project lifecycle from design to monitoring.
- Kumi Analytics (Singapore) – Leveraging deep blue carbon expertise to support developers across the full project lifecycle with high-resolution, ML-driven satellite analytics.
- Space Intelligence (UK) – Audit-grade nature mapping services for nature-based solutions.
- Spygen (France) – Generates robust ecological baselines through eDNA-based biodiversity monitoring using water and soil samples.
- Straatos (UK) – Climate Operating system for digital MRV, turning climate, community and biodiversity data into structured, traceable, and registry-ready carbon project workflows.
As a global leader in aquaculture investment, Hatch Blue serves as a co-developer of the challenge together with our partners at WWF. We are incredibly proud of this inaugural group of founders and look forward to providing the expert mentorship and commercialisation support necessary to prepare them for rapid growth.
“We designed this platform to validate the essential technologies needed to protect and restore blue carbon ecosystems across the region," said Program Director Benedict Tan at Hatch Blue. "It is incredible to see this cohort of founders focusing on such high-caliber, scalable solutions in Southeast Asia, and we are excited for the connections and partnerships that will emerge.”
Advancing Sustainable Aquaculture
Blue Catalyst aims to harness technology in service of nature by accelerating solutions that strengthen the integrity, scalability, and long-term viability of blue carbon projects. Blue carbon ecosystems - including mangroves, seagrasses and coastal wetlands - are powerful climate solutions that support sustainable coastal industries, including aquaculture. By harnessing the technologies needed to reliably track and verify restoration efforts, the program empowers the aquaculture industry to improve its environmental footprint and build long-term resilience.
